How the Global Talent route works

The Global Talent visa is a two-stage process for most applicants. First, an endorsing body assesses whether you are a recognised leader (exceptional talent) or an emerging leader (exceptional promise) in your field. Second, once endorsed, you apply to the Home Office for the visa itself. Holders of certain prestigious prizes can skip the endorsement stage.

The endorsing bodies are:

• Tech Nation for digital technology, covering technical and business roles in product-led digital companies.
• Arts Council England for arts and culture, with sub-endorsers the British Fashion Council, the Royal Institute of British Architects, the Producers Alliance for Cinema and Television (film and television) and, since July 2026, design.
• UK Research and Innovation, the Royal Society, the British Academy and the Royal Academy of Engineering for academia and research, including a fast-track for holders of eligible fellowships, senior academic appointments and researchers named on qualifying grants.

The visa has no employer sponsorship, no minimum salary and no English test at the application stage. You can work for any employer, be self-employed, run a company and change roles freely.

What the endorsing bodies look for

Each body publishes criteria, but they all reward evidence that is specific, external and verifiable. For Tech Nation that means a strong personal statement, three letters of recommendation from established leaders who know your work, and up to ten pieces of evidence showing innovation, recognition, contributions to the sector and commercial or technical impact. Arts Council England looks at international recognition, media coverage, awards, and work presented at significant venues. The research bodies look at your appointment, fellowship, grant or peer-reviewed record.

Where applications go wrong

• Evidence that describes your job rather than your impact.
• Letters of recommendation that are generic, from the wrong people or repeat the CV.
• Choosing exceptional talent when the record supports exceptional promise (or the reverse).
• Exceeding page limits or submitting evidence the endorsing body cannot verify.
• Assuming a senior job title is enough. It is not.

1. Profile assessment

   We review your CV, achievements and public profile against the criteria of the relevant endorsing body and tell you candidly whether and how you can qualify, and under which category.

2. Evidence plan

   A mapped list of the evidence you have, the evidence you need to obtain, and who should write your letters. We draft briefing notes for your referees.

3. Personal statement and portfolio

   We help structure and edit your personal statement and each evidence item so that a reviewer with 20 minutes sees the case immediately.

4. Endorsement and visa applications

   We submit the endorsement application, respond to any request for information, then prepare and submit the visa application for you and your family.
